EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU)-- An Eau Claire woman got quite the surprise when she looked outside her kitchen window.
Anita Sacia, who lives on the south side of Eau Claire, was able to capture video Tuesday of a bear eating out of her bird feeder in her front yard.
She says she recently got a squirrel barrier to keep them from eating the bird seed but didn't think she'd also have to worry about bears! She says she'll probably put away the bird feeder for now.
Scott Thiede with the DNR says black bears will look for any source of food.
"Black bears are an animal that lives to eat so if there's a food source nearby the bears are going to look for it, and that's what causes nuisances from bears, problem bears in the neighborhood, people that leave the grill out, or garbage cans, even bird feeders attract bears."
Thiede says some areas see more black bears than others because they follow rivers and highways that run through communities.
