ELK MOUND, Wis. (WEAU) The community is coming together to help the victims of a fire that broke out this week in Elk Mound.

A benefit fund for the Paula Gunderson family is at the Independence State Bank in Elk Mound.

For anyone wanting to donate, the bank says checks should be made payable to "Independence State Bank" and should have the word "donation" written in the memo line.

The house fire happened early Tuesday morning on University Street in Elk Mound.

Fire crews say an adult and seven kids managed to safely escape the burning building.

The cause of the fire is still unknown.
