“Big Bundle Up” delivers warm headwear to area kids

(WEAU) - Thousands of kids in the Chippewa Valley have some new sporty headwear Friday night.

It’s part of the “Big Bundle Up” campaign. The Wisconsin Department of Tourism is behind the effort, inspired by the mitten debate between Wisconsin and Michigan, where each states claims it’s the true mitten shaped state.

Friday night, the Visit Eau Claire team delivered cheesehead hats and Badger earmuffs to the Boys and Girls Club in Eau Claire and spent the day going to schools and the YMCA to hand out a little winter warmth. Visit Eau Claire Executive Director Linda John says it’s “fun when we delivered them to the schools today, the kids were super excited and it spreads holiday cheer.”

The campaign is an annual event now. If you'd like to donate, there are boxes at the Menomonie Welcome Center off I-94.
