Biker dies after crash with turkey in Vilas County
CLOVERLAND, Wis. (AP) -- An Eagle River motorcyclist is dead after he collided with a turkey in Vilas County and lost control of his bike.
The Vilas County Sheriff's Department says 67-year-old Terry Holmgren collided with the turkey Saturday afternoon on Highway 70 in Cloverland, in northern Wisconsin. He then slid into a ditch and several trees.
Holmgren was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials say he was not wearing a helmet and had severe head injuries.
