MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Aldi Supermarkets has pulled all grapes from its Milwaukee area stores after a shopper found a venomous black widow spider in one container.
Yvonne Duckhorn of Milwaukee tells the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel (http://bit.ly/1bho3Ni ) she was at the Wauwatosa Aldi with her 4-year-old daughter Thursday when she picked up a container of red grapes. She was checking for mold when she spotted a big black spider with red on it. She dumped the container into a plastic bag and turned it over to employees.
Aldi says it immediately pulled grapes from its Milwaukee area stores and is stepping up inspections.
Reports of black widows on grapes have popped up in recent months in Missouri, Michigan and Minnesota. They tend to bite when disturbed. Bites to children can be especially serious.
