Village of Hawkins added to list of communities where people can stop running water

(WEAU) -- UPDATE: As of Thursday morning, people living in the Village of Hawkins can stop running a small stream of water from their tap.

People in Cornell, Eau Claire, Cadott, the Village of Boyd, River Falls, Blair, West Salem, Fairchild, New Auburn, Strum, Altoona, Thorp and Elk Mound can now stop running their water.

In February those areas, along with several other communities in the Chippewa Valley, asked people to run a continuous pencil-size stream to avoid pipes from freezing.

The public works departments in those areas said people could now stop running water.

If you want to know if you should still run a continuous stream in your faucet, contact your local public works department.
