BOYD, Wis. (WEAU)-- Dozens of people showed up to give the gift of blood on Christmas Eve in Boyd.
The Boyd American Legion held a blood drive Tuesday morning.
Organizers say they hold drives every spring, summer, fall and winter but this Christmas Eve drive was dedicated to a very special volunteer.
Pat Raycher spent countless hours working at blood drives until she passed away earlier this year. Organizers say they wanted to honor her memory at the event.
"It must have meant a whole lot to her because she was here every drive she could be here, she just had to be here I guess and she came here and sat at the registration and greeted people with her smile," said Donella Christianson, Red Cross Blood Drive Coordinator.
The Red Cross says they plan to hold another blood drive in Stanley on March 11th.
