Blue Angels stop in Eau Claire to talk about 2013 show

(WEAU) - If you looked across the sky Thursday afternoon, you may have seen and heard a Blue Angels jet zoom across the skies of Eau Claire.

The U.S. Navy Blue Angels stopped by for a pre-season visit. That's ahead of next year's Chippewa Valley Airshow. The team says it makes a pre-season visit to all 33 air show sites for 2013. That's in order to make sure plans are set with the city and it's safe for the community to watch the show come next year.

Lt. Commander Michael Cheng told us Thursday “We look at demographics. We look at how the city hosted us before. We were here in 2010, we were here in 2008, had a great time both times and it kind of helps when that happens because the teams are like ‘hey we had a great time in Eau Claire, let’s go back.' That’s how we came back to Eau Claire.”

A total of 136 Blue Angel team members will bring the air show to Eau Claire on September 7th and 8th in 2013.
