Body found in Altoona bar identified

Altoona, Wis. (WEAU)- Police have released the name of a man found dead in a bathroom inside an Altoona bar.

Altoona Police Chief Jesse James says they have identified the man as 50-year old John D. Gallagher of Eau Claire.

On Saturday night police were called to Whiskey’s Bar and Grill in Altoona for a report of an unconscious man.

When they arrived officers found Gallagher unresponsive in the bathroom and tried to revive him. He was later pronounced dead at the scene.

The Altoona Police Department says they are continuing to conduct a death investigation and there is no safety threat to the community.
