"Book it for Books" raises funds for Elk Mound's cross country team and library

Elk Mound, WI (WEAU) -- Kids and adults took off from the start line tonight, to book it for books.

It was all to raise money for Elk Mound's new community library as well as the Elk Mound cross country teams.

A half mile course was setup for kids, a two mile course for those who like to walk and a four mile course was set for runners.

Elk Mound cross country coach Jeremiah Fredrickson says the event brings the community closer together.
"It's a good community event for us. Elk mound is a small community and the school is a big part of that.
And, with our new library, we're just trying to build it up more and a lot of good things happening here," says Fredrickson.

Fredrickson says they raised around $1,400 last year and are hoping to double that at today's 2nd annual fundraiser.
