COMMUNITY FIRST: Boys and Girls Club to open Menomonie Center

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Greater Chippewa Valley plans to open a new center.

On Thursday, the organization announced in a news release that the Menomonie Boys & Girls Club will open this fall at the River Heights Elementary School. Children in grades 3-8 can attend. The clubs' programs cover character and leadership development, health and life skills, the arts, sports, fitness and recreation, and education and career Development

The goal is to have the center open during the school year from from 3 p.m.–7 p.m. It would also be open during the summer from 7:30 a.m.–6 p.m. The Otto Bremer Foundation awarded the Menomonie Center a matching grant, which means the foundation will match any funding the center receives in 2014 up to $100,000.

The Club will also be open when school is closed. Membership is $10 per person or $20 per family.
