Brave plungers face cold temperatures for Polar Plunge

By  |

(WEAU) - Some people made an icy splash for a good cause on New Year’s Day, all for the Polar Plunge at the view on Lake Wissota.

The brave souls raised money for Big Brothers - Big Sisters of Northwestern Wisconsin and then plunged into the freezing cold water.

It's become a New Year day tradition for Big Brothers - Big Sisters and their Executive Director told us the plungers were ready for the extra cold weather.

“Up in The View it's very exciting. There are a lot of people up there, a lot of talk. Obviously the coldness is a topic of conversation but it doesn't seem to dampen any spirits at all. They know its January, they know it's going to be cold,” said Craig Monson, the Executive Director of Big Brothers - Big Sisters.

Besides the plunge, there were also raffles, music, and activities for the entire family.
