LA CROSSE, Wis. (WEAU) -- UnitedHealthcare is teaming up with an area organization to make sure people in the community have food on their tables.

Breakfast and Health On Us made the second of five stops at The Hunger Task Force of La Crosse on Tuesday.

A stop was made in Crawford County on Monday.

This is the first year of the event, which is meant to address food insecurity.

Free groceries were handed out and free blood pressure and body mass index screenings were given.

About 1,000 people were expected to be served in La Crosse Tuesday.

“By bringing healthy food to the community, we feel like we’re able to gain the respect of the population as well as improve the health and well being of the communities that we serve,” said UnitedHealthcare Community Plan marketing and engagement vice president Ginger Dzick.
