EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- Dozens of people got a bus tour of how Eau Claire is serving the homeless population in town.
The 2013 "A Home for Everyone" conference brought people from all across Wisconsin to Eau Claire today.
Around 30 people got a tour of three homeless shelters including the Beacon House, Sojourner House and Western Dairyland's homeless shelter.
Organizers said each non-profit uses a different approach, helping different groups of people in need of a home.
“There are shelters that are geared towards providing shelter for homeless families which is Western Dairyland and Interfaith and there are shelters that provide assistance to just individuals which is here at Sojourner. We all try to work together to provide the best services so that no ones left without a home at night,” said Jeanne Semb with Western Dairyland.
She said next Wednesday, they'll conduct a "Point in Time" survey which will help get a "snapshot" of what homelessness looks like on a given night with a barbeque taking place at the community table.
