COMMUNITY FIRST: Filling the Dream event to raise funds for Special Olympics

By  |

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- An upcoming fundraiser for Indianhead Region Special Olympics will have volunteers pumping gas and washing car and truck windows.

Filling the Dream is Saturday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. at Mega Holiday gas stations in Eau Claire, Altoona, Lake Hallie, and Chippewa Falls. Mega Holiday will donate 5 cents of every gallon of gas pumped on Saturday to Special Olympics. The volunteers come from businesses and area law enforcement agencies, and will fill your tank while you wait. The stores will also sell coupons, with all proceeds going straight to Special Olympics. Many stations will serve brats and burgers. The organization is looking for volunteers for Saturday's event.

"This has been a really challenging spring because a lot of people are really busy with everything that's going on," said Regional Director of Development Karen Kraus. "So, we've kind of struggled to get volunteers. So, people are encouraged to sign up, if they're able to."
