COMMUNITY FIRST: Junior League donates nearly 40,000 diapers to Feed My People

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- A women's group donated nearly $7,000 in diapers to the Feed My People Food Bank last year.

The Junior League of Eau Claire donated almost 40,000 diapers to Feed My People in 2013. It's aimed at providing diapers to children in need. The Diaper Bank was started because members found out parents couldn't afford to leave disposable diapers at childcare centers. That meant they couldn't take advantage of free or subsidized childcare while they went to work or school.

The group is concerned that the trend will ultimately hurt the economy and continue the poverty cycle. It holds fundraisers to support the program.
