COUNTRY JAM 2013: Final setup before Jam kicks off

TOWN OF UNION, Wis. (WEAU) -- Country Jam fans are getting ready to see some of their favorite artists take the stage and on Wednesday, vendors and organizers are completing some finishing touches.

The stage crew was setting up the stage for some of country's biggest stars. Toby Robinson is the local crew stage manager with Country Jam. He has been working with Jam since 2007.

“We started early Monday morning, the entire deck, everything you see is steel structured, the roof all had to be put together in three days and we'll do the sound check this afternoon and then we'll take it all down Sunday. So we're very thankful for Darren for a 75 degree weather on Sunday,” said Robinson.

Robinson said the crew has been working hard, under the stress of heat and a deadline.

“This is bread and butter right here. These guys work hard all week, 100 degree temperatures, water and a little bit of food, and ten hour days and they deserve every pat on the back,” he said.

And the folks that keep your bellies full and your thirst quenched are getting ready to cater to thousands of people that turnout for Country Jam 2013.

Darren Thomas of Thomas Concessions sells gyros, sweet tea, Philly wraps and chicken wraps.

“This is our 3rd year being a vendor. It’s our first year at Country Jam. So we're really looking forward to it. It should be a good time,” said Thomas.

If you're on the grounds Friday, organizers say to expect to see a whole lot of red, white and blue.

“We've ramped up the military day this year so we're going to have flags throughout the ground so it should really be a nice sight and a nice tribute to the military,” said Pam Speckien the sponsorship and marketing director for Country Jam USA. “We'll have a fireworks display this year sponsored by Burger King so we'll have that after Kelly Clarkson performs.”

This isn’t Kelly Clarkson’s first time at Country Jam. She was here in 2007 as a surprise guest with Reba Mcentire, singing "Because of You."

And another rising artist will be at Country Jam for the first time; The Band Perry, known for their hit song "If I Die Young” will perform Thursday evening, just before Rascal Flatts.
