NEW INFORMATION: Cadott schools hire new superintendent

CADOTT, Wis. (WEAU) -- The Cadott Community School District has hired a new superintendent.

On Monday night, the district's Board of Education hired Damon Smith. Members voted unanimously to hire Smith. He comes to the district from Hayward Community Schools. He has 25 years of experience as a technology education teacher and district office administrator.

"It's an excellent school district in a great place," Smith said, "and I'm hoping to be able to continue on the great things that are occurring there right now."

"The position itself really fit me very well. It's a good fit. A lot of the philosophies of the Cadott Community schools are very, very similar to those in Hayward in terms of the whole child, and making sure that every child reaches their full potential."

Smith, 48, will be the sixth superintendent in the history of the district. He will make $115,000 per year. In April, former Cadott superintendent Joe Zydowsky was named Menomonie School District Administrator.

Smith starts on July 1. The district is hosting a "meet and greet" event for anyone in the district on July 16. It's in the Cadott High School Commons from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
