CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. (WEAU)-- Congressional Candidate, Kelly Westlund, was in Chippewa Falls Monday.

Westlund toured the Wisconsin Veterans Home as part of her veterans listening tour in the state's 7th Congressional District.

The home is a 72-bed facility and employs 90 people. Westlund says she wants to learn more about services and facilities available for veterans in Wisconsin, and what she can do to be an advocate for them in congress.

"I grew up in a military family, my dad was Air Force, my step-dad is Navy, my mom was Department of Defense, so I have kind of a special connection to these sorts of issues. They're really important to me and to members of my family, so I'd like to find out more," said Westlund.

Westlund, a Democrat, is running against U.S. Representative Sean Duffy. Duffy is expected to host a medal ceremony in Thorp Tuesday morning.
