Case closed one year after toddler’s death

CENTURIA, Wis. (WEAU)-- One year after the tragic death of a toddler in Polk County, the District Attorney there says the case is closed, and no charges will be filed.

On July 16th, 2013, two-year-old Isaiah Theis disappeared from his home near Centuria. Two days later, his body was found in the trunk of a car parked outside the home.

Chief Deputy Steve Moe told us at the time that the boy’s father repaired cars on the property and the car belonged to a customer. The parents thought the boy wandered off, which he had a tendency to do, and thought the customers’ cars were all locked.

The boy was found in the trunk with the keys. Autopsy results showed he died of hyperthermia, which is excessive heat.
