EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- An event will celebrate the return of downtown Eau Claire's "budget theater."

Downtown Eau Claire Inc. is holding a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the newly-renovated Micon Cinemas Downtown Budget Cinema on S. Barstow Street Thursday afternoon. Crews recently worked on both auditoriums and installed tables. They also created a handicapped restroom, and the business expanded its menu. The theater, which originally opened in 1946, closed in November 2014 for the overhaul. It re-opened in April.

The ceremony is at 5:30 p.m. at the theater.
