One person killed in crash near Chetek

Contributing factors include alcohol and failure to wear a seatbelt.
The crash is being investigated by the Barron County Sheriff’s Department.

BARRON, Wis. (BARRON COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT NEWS RELEASE) -- On Friday, November 1, 2013, at 9:51p.m., the Barron County Sheriff’s Department received a call of a one-vehicle crash on CTH A near 20th Street, southwest of Chetek in the Town of Sioux Creek, Barron County. Deputies from the Barron County Sheriff’s Department, the Chetek Fire Department, and Chetek Ambulance, were dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, it was discovered a vehicle being driven by Gale Birch, 49, of Chetek, was traveling east on CTH A near 20th Street, left the roadway, and struck several trees. Birch was deceased at the scene. No one else was in the vehicle at the time of crash.
