CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. (WEAU)-- A local National Guard company is preparing for deployment to Afghanistan.

1st Lt. Joe Trovato says the Chippewa Falls based 829th Engineer Company is expected to be deployed in April. He says about 160 soldiers will be making the trip overseas to reclaim reusable materials that the military has built up over 12 years there.

He says the 829th will be a part of a team of other engineer units trying to move $120 million metric tons of materials out of the country. The 829th was already deployed in 2003 and 2009.

Lt. Trovato says a send off ceremony, still in the planning stages, will be either in late March or early April.
