Chippewa River Trail open; River now nine feet below flood stage

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- All sections of the Chippewa River Trail in Eau Claire are now open as the river is nearly nine feet below flood stage.

The City of Eau Claire released its Chippewa River Update Friday morning. It says the Chippewa River gauge at Grand Avenue read 764.2 at 7 a.m. Friday. Downtown flood stage is 773.

The city wants people to watch for possible trail closures as snow melts in the upper watershed. Expected temperatures in the 60s during the weekend and possible showers could contribute to the runoff that adds to the river. People living near the river are asked to keep an eye on river conditions.
