EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- Recent rain and high water in the Chippewa River are expected to flood parts of Owen Park and the Chippewa River Trail into next week.

The City of Eau Claire released a flood update on Tuesday morning. It says the level of the Chippewa River at Grand Avenue was about 9 1/2 feet below flood stage around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. The National Weather Service is predicting the river to crest at about five feet below flood stage Thursday night.

Lower sections of the Chippewa River Trail behind Hobbs Ice Arena and Haas Arts Center are expected to flood Tuesday night as the river rises.
