Chippewa Valley Boy Scouts council named #1 in America

Eau Claire (WEAU) -- The Boy Scouts of America has named the Chippewa Valley Council as the number one council in the nation.
Nearly three hundred councils participate in the Boy Scouts' performance recognition program called "Journey to Excellence".
The program rewards success by measuring the performance of Boy Scout units, districts, and councils nationwide.
Based in Eau Claire, the Chippewa Valley Council has ranked in the top 5 councils since the "Journey to Excellence" program began.
Scout Executive Matt Hill says Chippewa Valley Scouts earned Gold Status in 2013 based on performance in areas such as unit service, leadership, governance, finance, and membership.
The Boy Scouts of America evaluates about 285 councils using the "Journey to Excellence" program.
Hill says the award is due to the hard work of the Scouts and Scouting volunteers.
