EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) - Members of the Eau Claire City Council are looking into updating the current "dangerous dogs" law.
The proposed new law would allow the police department to both impound a dog for up to 30 days if it is suspected to be dangerous and declare it dangerous at any time. The police department currently has to choose one or the other.
It says both are means to protect the public from dangerous or suspected to be dangerous dogs.
In addition, the proposed law would force dangerous dogs to be removed from the city within 5 days, instead of the current 10 day waiting period.
