City demolishes house with financial help from the state

(WEAU) - The City of Eau Claire tore down a house, with help from the state.

The Strategic Blight Elimination Program provides cities money to tear down houses in disrepair. The city got almost $19,000 to demolish this home on Maple Street.

The state says getting rid of houses like this can help property values and make the neighborhood safer.
It says abandoned homes often attract criminal activity.
