(WEAU) - Downtown Eau Claire business owners met with the city Wednesday to discuss the downtown reconstruction project.

Store owners asked questions and voiced their concerns over the project to city leaders. They also learned valuable tips on how to stay open and profitable during the project. The city says it will work with the downtown businesses to keep customers coming.

Eau Claire Economic Development Administrator Mike Schatz says "We want to make sure that even though the road is being reconstructed, there are ways to get to them. We want to have methods of communication so that we're constantly letting potential customers know how to get downtown, how to get to individual businesses"

The two way conversion of both Graham and Barstow is planned for mid-August. We're told the city will be contacting delivery people at the 125 businesses in the area to eliminate congestion in the construction area.
