“Click It or Ticket” campaign kicks-off

Chippewa County, Wisc. (WEAU) -- “Click It or Ticket”. That’s what law enforcement leaders are saying to encourage people to buckle up.

The seat belt campaign kicked off Monday and runs through June 1st.
The Chippewa County Sheriff’s Department will be working extra shifts to make sure people are buckling up.

"We're looking to spread the word as far as have people do what they can for themselves when they're on the roadway, said Lt. Mitch Gibson. “You can't always assume that just by being on the roadway and operating safe that you are going to be safe. You always got to be prepared for an accident to happen."

The Chippewa County Sheriff’s Department says about one out of every five motorists in Wisconsin does not wear their seat belt.
