ALMA, Wis. (WEAU) -- A Cochrane man was flown to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after slamming his car into a power pole and a railroad crossing arm.

The crash happened around 6:45 a.m. Thursday near the intersection of Kamrowski Road and Prairie Moon Road in the Town of Milton, which is southeast of Cochrane. The Buffalo County Sheriff's Office says the man was driving south on Kamrowski when his car went over an icy patch. It went off the road, hit the pole, and the crossing arm. It left the man trapped in the car.

Deputies expect to release the 20-year-old man's name on Friday. He was the only one in the car at the time of the crash.
