Community, school leader Sheridan dies at 78

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- A community leader who's served on the Eau Claire City Council and later as Interim Superintendent of Eau Claire schools has died.

An obituary says Terry Sheridan died on Saturday with his family at his side. His funeral was Thursday. Sheridan was superintendent of public school districts in Illinois and Wisconsin before working as an assistant superintendent for the Eau Claire Area School District. He was also principal at Manz Elementary and Meadowview Elementary in Eau Claire. After retiring, he served on the Eau Claire City Council in the late 1990's and early 2000's. He came out of retirement twice; once to become Interim President of the Catholic Area Schools in Eau Claire, and again to serve as the Eau Claire Area School District's Interim Superintendent in 2012.

Sheridan was 78.
