EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WISCONSIN DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION NEWS RELEASE) -- Roadway improvements are scheduled to begin August 18 between the Chippewa River and River Street/Bridge Street roundabout in Chippewa Falls. The project will include new pavement, lighting, curb and gutter and signage.

The project will be done in three stages, with different impacts to motorists:

• During stage 1, the WIS 124 northbound and southbound inside lanes will be closed. This portion is expected to last one week.

• Stage 2, lasting through mid-September, will close the WIS 124 northbound ramp from E. Park Avenue and the Court Street/WIS 124 intersection. During this time, traffic will be shifted to the southbound lanes and will use the temporary crossovers constructed during stage 1.

• The final stage will open Court Street to right-in and right-out maneuvers. During stage 3, traffic will use the northbound lanes while the southbound lanes are being constructed.

The project is expected to be completed by the end of October.
