Council celebrates new Eau Claire-Menomonie bus route

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) - Eau Claire city council members got a free bus ride across town Monday to celebrate the opening of a new bus route connecting Eau Claire and Menomonie.

Eau Claire Transit held the "ticket cutting" ceremony Monday afternoon at the transit center and at McDonald’s on Truax Lane. That's where riders in Eau Claire can board the bus to get to Menomonie.

The route has been running for two weeks, but Mike Branco with Eau Claire Transit says the last couple weeks have been about getting feedback. “The feedback we're looking at is making some adjustments to routes, to routes' timings, hopefully adding one more time in to be able to provide better service. There are a lot of things we have the potential to work on and we'll get there I think,” Branco said.

The route called E-12 Express runs between the two cities three times each day, Monday through Friday and twice on Saturdays.

The tickets are $2.50 one-way or $5 for a round trip.
