EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) – Eau Claire County has received an $825,000 settlement after suing a company for what the county calls “untrue, deceptive, and misleading representations.”
The county announced the settlement on Wednesday.
It signed on with Softscape so that the company would create a Human Services Information System. The county says the system would integrate case management software with the county and comply with a federal privacy law. The county paid Softscape $160,000. Later, it sued Softscape for the money it had paid plus damages.
Two separate appeals were made. Those decisions ended up in the county’s favor. Softscape appealed of the decisions to the Wisconsin Supreme Court. It wouldn’t take the case.
The county says replacement of its aging Human Services Information System has been delayed by at least seven years.
We contacted Sumtotal, which says it has since acquired Softscape. A spokesperson told us she would get back to us, but we haven’t heard from her so far.
