Couple to start serving sentence in death of daughter

Last July, the State Supreme Court upheld the Neumanns' conviction.  Prosecutors then made a motion for the sentence to begin.

WAUSAU, Wis. (WEAU) -- The couple convicted in the diabetes-related death of their 11-year-old daughter will start serving their sentences.

WSAW-TV in Wausau reports that a Marathon County judge ruled Thursday to end the delay in the sentence for Dale and Leliani Neumann of Weston. Prosecutors had requested it. The Neumanns argued there no reason to serve a sentence, and that they had suffered enough. The couple's daughter, Kara, died of untreated diabetes in 2008. Her parents had tried to heal her with prayer.

They were sentenced to six months in jail, 10 years probation, and community service. Neither of them had served any time because a judge put their sentence on hold as they appealed their conviction.
