NEW INFORMATION: Woman arrested for DUI crash in Altoona ID'd

ALTOONA, Wis. (WEAU) -- The Altoona Police Dept. says 51-year-old Laura L. Valdez was arrested Friday night for driving under the influence following a crash.

Around 7 p.m. Friday at Hwy 12 and Oak Dr., police say Valdez was driving a van that turned into the driver's side door of a pickup truck.

The truck spun and hit a jeep that was at a stop sign. A woman who was driving the jeep was taken to a hospital.

Valdez was arrested for DUI.


A crash Friday night in Altoona leaves one woman arrested and another in the hospital.

The crash happened around 7 p.m. at highway 12 and Oak Drive.

Altoona Police Chief Jesse James says a van turned into the driver side door of a pick-up, saying the truck then spun and hit a jeep that was waiting at a stop sign.

James says the female driver of the jeep had to be taken by ambulance to the hospital with unknown injuries.

He says the female driver of the van was arrested for driving under the influence.

The chief says crews were having to do reconstruction of the crash, leaving the westbound lanes of highway 12 closed for more than an hour and a half.
