Crash on 53 Bypass leads to traffic backup

TOWN OF SEYMOUR, Wis. (WEAU) -- A crash on the 53 Bypass near Melby Street caused a traffic backup Thursday afternoon.

It happened just before 2 p.m. Thursday in the southbound lanes of the freeway. One vehicle could be seen in the ditch on the west side of the road. The crash scene is near the border between the Village of Lake Hallie and the Eau Claire County Town of Seymour. Traffic in the southbound lanes was backed up past Melby Street after the crash.

Messages to investigators seeking comment were not immediately returned.
