Crash simulation gives local students a reality check

By  |

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) Students at an Eau Claire high school got a reality check Thursday afternoon, all in the name of education and awareness.

An ambulance, a hearse and even Mayo One was called in for a mock prom night crash at Memorial High School.

This simulated scene plays out each year at high schools in the area to raise awareness about the dangers of drinking and driving.

These events are timed close to party-centric events like prom night and graduation.

Mayo Health Clinic has been sponsoring this event for the last 15 years, and says in that time span, there have been no traffic related drinking and driving deaths on prom night.
