BOYCEVILLE, Wis. (WEAU) -- The Wisconsin State Patrol says, as of 2 p.m. Tuesday, the southbound lanes of State Highway 79 near the fire scene remain closed.
BOYCEVILLE, Wis. (WEAU) --Firefighters are at the scene of a building fire where crews say they found "50-foot flames coming from the ceiling."
It's at a building on East Street in Boyceville. Firefighter/EMT Tonya Schutts of the Boyceville Fire Department says it used to house Frieberg Farm Equipment. Crews responded around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. Schutts says the building was fully engulfed, and that 50-foot flames were coming from the ceiling. She says nobody was in the building at the time, and nobody was hurt. Schutts says she doesn't know what caused the fire, or where in the building it started. She does not believe it's suspicious in nature.
The Wisconsin State Patrol says troopers shut down a stretch of State Highway 79 near the fire scene just before 10 a.m. Tuesday. The stretch of highway remained closed at 12:15 p.m. Tuesday.
The Superintendent of Schools in the Boyceville School District says students were moved to the far end of the building as a precautionary measure because smoke from the fire ended up in the area of the school. They stayed that way for nearly an hour.
