EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU)- Ski jumpers from North America and Europe are about to try to conquer the Silver Mine Hill.
The 128th Silver Mine Ski Jumping Invitational is coming up Friday night and Saturday evening.
Monday crews were putting together the WEAU hospitality tent. Despite Tuesday's nine-inch snowfall, workers spent Tuesday night grooming the landing area.
"The landing is very important, it is where the jumper lands so if they have bumps or grooves or it is not even they can have falls and it can cause some serious damage to the hill and the skier as well,” Chief of the Silver Mine Hill Zach Jastrow said. “So having that flat surface, having some traction on it so we groom it with rakes to rough up the snow a little bit it will give them some traction so they can go done nice and straight."
The Competition Starts Friday night at 7 PM. Advance admission is $10 and tickets are $15 at the gate. Children 12 & under get in for free.
Advanced tickets can be purchased at several area locations, you can find those under Related Links.
