Crews rescue man from island in Wisconsin River

WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis. (WEAU) -- Crews rescued a fisherman who was stranded on an island in the Wisconsin River.

It happened around 12:20 p.m. near County Road Z in Port Edwards. The Wood County Sheriff's Department says two fisherman called for help after Stephen Kreger, 31, of Nekoosa had become stranded on the island. His kayak had capsized, and he was yelling for help. The Port Edwards Fire Department responded, and helped Kreger off the island.

Kreger was not hurt.
