Crews respond to fire on Truax Blvd. in Eau Claire

Eau Claire, Wisc. (WEAU) -- Firefighters were at the scene of a duplex fire on Truax Blvd. in Eau Claire Thursday morning.

According to Eau Claire Fire & Rescue, it started just before 8 a.m. at 1426 Truax Blvd. Damage is estimated at $50,000.

Firefighters say the fire involved an attached garage and vehicle in one half of the duplex.

Investigators say there were people inside the home when the fire started. A passerby alerted them to the fire. Everyone was able to get out safely and there were no injuries.

It's not clear yet how the fire started, and it is still under investigation.

Truax Blvd. was blocked off on both sides of the fire for a short time.
