Crews responded to a garage fire Friday morning on Whipple Street.

Eau Claire Fire and Rescue says it happened around 6:40 a.m. When crews got there, they found an unattached garage burning. People in nearby homes were evacuated as a precaution.

No one was hurt and there's no damage estimate.

Eau Claire Police say the fire is suspicious because it happened near the same time and location of the fire at REACH in Eau Claire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
