TRAFFIC ALERT: Crews to repair broken main valve in Menomonie

MENOMONIE, Wis. (WEAU) -- MENOMONIE, Wis. (WEAU) -- Crews will be closing an intersection in Menomonie and interrupting water service to several customers so they can repair a broken main valve.

The intersection of 18th Avenue and 5th Street in Menomonie will be closed starting around 9 a.m. Wednesday. It's expected to remain closed for a couple hours. Public Works Director Randy Eide says the break happened during the winter when the frost sank deep enough in the ground to cause a freeze-up. Crews had closed the valve, and will now repair it so that it can be re-opened.

Eide says customers on about three blocks of 5th Street and another three blocks of 18th Avenue will be without water for two to three hours while the valve is repaired.
