Crisis workshop helps businesses be prepared

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) What would you do if you lost power for a long period of time? How would you go about your daily life?

A crisis workshop was held at the Plaza Hotel in Eau Claire Thursday to discuss just that.

As a part of "Disaster Ready Chippewa Valley" people from area businesses discussed what they would do in a disaster situation.

They say it's important for the community to be ready, because you never know when something like that could happen.

"We definitely have a range of natural and man-made risks in the community. In 1980 a high wind storm, but it could also be local flooding, that's more localized. So it could affect individual businesses or small neighborhoods, or large regional areas like we're talking about," says Chris Straight, Senior Planner.

He says "Disaster Ready Chippewa Valley" gets together twice a year to discuss anything from cyber attacks, to data protection and crisis situations.
