Customers nab attempted robbery suspect

(WEAU) - Police say customers helped catch a suspect who was trying to rob a gas station.

The Chippewa Falls Police Department says Brooklyn Payne, 19, walked into the DJ’s Mart in Chippewa Falls around 2 p.m. Wednesday afternoon with a knife and demanded money.

The clerk refused and customers in the store ran after her and out into the parking lot. Officers say the customers held her until police got there.

She's expected to be charged with attempted robbery.
