Planes contracted by the WI Dept of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection conducted aerial sprays for gypsy moth Saturday morning.
The DNR says the spraying is necessary to control the spread of the insect, which is a destructive and invasive pest that feeds on the leaves of oaks, maples and several other species of trees.
The spraying took place in low-flying planes Saturday morning and covered Chippewa, Eau Claire and Clark counties.
La Crosse and Rusk, Monroe, Polk, Price and Washburn counties are scheduled to receive spray on Tuesday, May 31, by the WI Dept. of Agriculture.
