MENOMONIE, Wis. (WEAU) -- The city of Menomonie has been awarded a nearly $300,000 grant to help two local businesses grow and add jobs.

The grant is coming from the Transportation Economic Assistance program through the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.

The Freitag Drive project will build a nearly 2000 foot road that will connect two streets in the Menomonie Industrial Park.

It will open up access and land so shape products And Hidden Valley Industries can expand their operations.

The companies say more than 100 jobs will be created because of the expansions.

The Department Of Transportation secretary says he's happy the program will have an impact in our area.

"It's just great for us to be able to participate in a project like this where you can really see the impact that we're able to have through the Tea Program to help a business here in Wisconsin create good-wage jobs and grow their business here in Menomonie,” says Secretary Mark Gottlieb.

The grant will cover just under 1/3 of the overall cost, with the city of Menomonie paying the rest.
