NEW INFORMATION: DOT warns of possible traffic backups as I-90/94 Challenge begins

MADISON, Wis. (WISCONSIN DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION NEWS RELEASE) -- WisDOT is reminding motorists across the state that multiple major events the Wisconsin State Fair, EAA Airventure and Packers Family Night coupled with active construction zones across the state, may lead to backups and delays.

In addition, Wisconsin State Patrol is participating in a multi-state initiative to reduce injury accidents and fatalities on I-90 and I-94, from coast to coast. The I-90/94 Challenge begins today, August 1, and runs through Monday, August 4. Expect an increase in law enforcement presence on these roadways during this time.

Motorists are reminded to plan ahead and allow for additional travel time.
In addition:

-Always drive sober
-Buckle up
-Reduce speeds
-Pay attention to message boards and traffic control signs, particularly in construction zones

Check (or dial 511) for traffic information, travel times, construction zones and closures,
incident information and other travel information.
